When you live in the South, ice skating is not a commonplace activity. Wondering where to ice skate in Greensboro or Winston-Salem? True diehards can skate, play hockey, and practice their curling/broomball skills at indoor ice rinks that are open year-round, like the Greensboro Ice House, but those are few and far between. If you're a northerner or just like to imagine you're a figure skating pro for an hour or so, wintertime brings several fun opportunities to dazzle your friends and family with your Salchow and triple-axel jumps...or laugh at yourself when you trip over your own skates!
If you're trying to buy and/or sell your home this winter, please "skate on over" to the Vincent Group at GreatNest! We’d be honored to be your real estate agency of choice, and we are confident we can save you money.
We love Downtown Greensboro's Piedmont Winterfest, which is a temporary ice rink set up in the VF Seasonal Plaza at LeBauer Park at 208 N. Davie St., next to the Greensboro Cultural Center and Greensboro's Central Public Library. For the winter of 2016-17 the rink is open from Nov. 18, 2016 - Jan. 29, 2017, but be sure to check the full schedule here for details about open skate hours. (Sometimes, the place is in use for private parties or other special events.) Here are just a few reasons we love Piedmont Winterfest so much:
If you're closer to Winston-Salem, the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds ice skating rink is open to the public on dates through December 31 (be sure to check the website or Facebook page for public skate dates and times). We haven't been over to skate there yet, but it looks like fun--and it's indoors! Prices listed on the site are reasonable: $7 for admission, and $3 for skate rental. Have a wintertime birthday? You can have a birthday party there for just $13 a person!
