Fourth of JulyWhew! What a spring! If you’re like us, you can hardly believe the school year is over and summer is right around the corner. We hope you get some valuable rest and relaxation this summer, whether it’s with the sand between your toes or enjoying some of the many events happening across Winston-Salem, Greensboro, High Point, Kernersville, and the rest of the Piedmont Triad. For those of us who plan to stay local for the Fourth of July, there are plenty of family-friendly celebrations in the area. We’ve compiled a few of the events we know about; as always, please comment if you know of something we’ve left out.

And of course, if summer will bring a change in employment, relocation to a smaller or larger home, or a move away from the area, please let The Vincent Group at GreatNest help you buy and/or sell your home. We’d be honored to be your real estate agency of choice, and we are confident we can save you money!

The Fun Fourth Festival: Greensboro

The Fun Fourth Festival has been presented annually since 1975 to celebrate Independence Day for Guilford County, and it’s been recognized as a Top 20 Event by the Southeast Tourism Society, as well as an Outstanding Event by Celebration NC Foundation. This year, the Street Festival will be in the Historic District of Downtown Greensboro, and events include:

Winston-Salem Dash Baseball: Winston Salem

The Winston-Salem Dash will take on the Down East Wood Ducks at 6:30 p.m. on July 4, and after the game, kids can run the bases before a July Fourth fireworks show begins.

Wet ‘n’ Wild Emerald Pointe Water Park Fireworks Show: Greensboro

Emerald Pointe is fun on any hot summer day, but it’s especially a blast on July 4th, when the park puts on its award-winning Sky Fly Fireworks Show & Block Party. There’s a DJ with music, special contests and prizes; free fountain drinks, and a fireworks show at 9:15 p.m. If you’re a season pass holder, you can show your pass at the VIP table inside Emerald Pointe’s main gate to receive a wristband, and you’ll be able to join a Fireworks VIP Pre-Show Party from 7:30-9:00 p.m., as well as a special VIP viewing area for the fireworks show.

Rotary Club Fourth of July 5k Run and Parade: Kernersville

An annual event preceding the Kernersville Fourth of July Parade, this 5k run takes participants through the heart of downtown Kernersville. Approximately 600 runners from around the Piedmont Triad participate, cheered on by the 5,000+ folks gathered downtown to watch the 5k and parade, which begins at 9:00 a.m. at Kernersville Elementary and follows much the same route as the 5k.

4th of July Fireworks 2015: Kernersville

Bring your lawn chair, blanket, family, and friends to the Kernersville Raiders football field for a FREE fireworks celebration, complete with live music starting at 6:30 p.m.! The sky will light up around 9:00 p.m. in a spectacular display celebrating our great nation's independence.

Old Salem Independence Day Celebration: Winston-Salem

All day on July 4th, visitors to Old Salem Historic District can enjoy hands-on art and craft activities, listen to a reading of the Declaration of Independence, patriotic music, Early American games, and more. At 10:00 a.m., celebrate at Salem Square with dozens of people from a number of different countries who will become new American citizens during a Naturalization Ceremony.

47th Annual Southeast Old Thresher's Reunion: Denton, NC

Denton FarmPark hosts the largest antique tractor show in the Southeast from June 30 - July 4. More than 1,000 tractors, as well as other farm equipment and antique cars, will be on display.
