Father's Day eventsFather's Day is the third Sunday of each June, giving us the opportunity to celebrate fathers, grandfathers, great-grandfathers, stepfathers, foster fathers, and other paternal figures in our lives. This year (2018), the big day is Sunday, June 17, and we've collected a few dining-out and entertainment options for you to share with the special man you'd like to honor on Father's Day. Please let us know of any excellent Father's Day meals or events we haven't mentioned - we'd like to keep building our list.

It's best to make reservations for any of these Father's Day meals and activities - everyone wants to take their special man out for a treat on June 19!  Just check out each website for more information about reservations, or reserve via OpenTable.com, which features many of these places.

Father's Day Dining @ Elm St. Grill, Greensboro

@ Elm St. Grill in downtown Greensboro will be opening early at 10 a.m. on Father's Day for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Steaks, bison burgers (made from NC-raised bison from Dr. King’s Farms™), shrimp and grits (made with Old Mill of Guilford grits), crab cake Benedict, and other delicious choices are prepared with fresh, locally sourced and organic ingredients. The bar features 40+ wines, nearly 50 craft beers, and handcrafted cocktails. For reservations, check OpenTable or @ Elm St. Grill.

The Bistro at Childress Vineyards, Lexington

On Sunday, The Bistro at Childress Vineyards will offer a special Father's Day Buffet from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m., with more than 20 items, including prime rib carving station, BBQ, bacon mac and cheese, biscuits and gravy, baked potato bar, banana pudding, and much more. This extensive buffet is prepared by Executive Chef Spencer Wright and Sous Chef Hanna Jones, and we’re guessing there will be some delicious wine pairing possibilities, too. For reservations, check OpenTable or Childress Vineyards.

Milner’s American Southern, Winston-Salem

Open at 11 a.m. on Sunday, Milner’s is a great place to celebrate your father figure or have an “at home” meal any time. Foods are a tribute to the chef's Lowcountry Carolina upbringing and childhood memories of meals enjoyed with family and friends. Delectable meats and seafood are butchered in-house, and greens and veggies are hand-selected from farm trucks most of the year. And if exceptional food and a stellar wine list aren’t compelling enough, perhaps dad would enjoy live jazz on Father's Day evening (or any Sunday night…it’s a regular thing). For reservations, check OpenTable or Milner's American Southern.

Ruth’s Chris Steak House, Greensboro

With more than 50 years’ spent “perfecting the steak house experience,” Ruth’s Chris Steak House is THE place to take care of your dad on Father's Day. . Steak-lovers know they can rely on Ruth’s Chris Steak House’s USDA prime cuts of beef, served on a sizzling-hot plate. Check OpenTable or Ruth's Chris Steak House - Greensboro for reservations.

Winston-Salem Dash Family Sunday

On Fathers Day, at 2 p.m., the Winston-Salem Dash will play the Wilmington Blue Rocks at home. You, dad, and granddad can enjoy $1 hot dogs and sodas through the first inning, and after the game, kids can run the bases.

Father's Day Package, Pinehurst Resort, Pinehurst

This Father's Day, Pinehurst recommends “skip the tie and treat Dad to a golf experience of a lifetime.” Included in the Father's Day Weekend special are rounds of golf on legendary Pinehurst No. 2 and No. 4, Friday and Saturday night receptions and dinner, hospitality room throughout the weekend featuring snacks and games, and deluxe resort accommodations. Plus, you can hear stories from best-selling author James Dodson.

Brew Dash 6K and Brew Stash Bash, US National Whitewater Center, Charlotte

Okay, so it’s not technically on Fathers Day, and it’s not technically in the Piedmont Triad, either. But we couldn’t resist mentioning the Brew Dash 6K, which will be held on Saturday, June 16, from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., featuring competition heat and recreation heat runs through the trail system at the USNWC. Afterward, stay at the center for live music and a huge selection of national and local craft beers at the fourth annual Brew Stash Bash, which starts at 1 p.m….refreshing after working up a sweat, no? If your dad loves running, beer, or both, this would be a great day-trip treat for him (and yourself!)
